The Association des Amis de l’Hôtel de Brienne [Friends of the Hôtel de Brienne], chaired by Jean-Yves Le Drian (formerly French Minister of Defence and currently Minister of Foreign Affairs), is a non-profit whose aim is to preserve and enhance this important place, the Hôtel de Brienne, an 18th-century townhouse in Paris’s 7th arrondissement which was bought by Lucien Bonaparte in 1802 and then became the residence of Madame Mère (from 1806-1814). The Fondation Napoléon which supports this association, has recently joined forces with them to purchase the plans of the Hôtel in its “Madame Mère” configuration, which were previously unknown. This little treasure will be deposited in the Fondation’s collection. On 7 September 2021, the President of the Fondation Napoléon, Victor-André Masséna, Prince d’Essling, took part in the annual general meeting of the association, providing the occasion for a souvenir photo with Mr Le Drian, in the famous Salon de l’Horloge [Clock Room] of the Quai d’Orsay [home of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs].
