Masterpieces
The Fondation Napoléon has a prestigious ensemble of more than 1,000 inventoried pieces, most of which were bequeathed by Martial Lapeyre (1904-1984), the famous French industrialist and art collector. Since 1990, the Fondation has regularly enriched it by the acquisition of rare masterpieces and French national treasures.
This exceptional collection comprises memorabilia from the two empires, notably very many objects once belonging to Napoleon I or to other members of the imperial family. The decorative arts are particularly well represented, with some of the most beautiful pieces ever made by the artists and craftsmen of the Napoleonic periods.
