The flight of the Eagle

French title: L’envol de l’Aigle

On the occasion of the bicentenary of Napoleon Bonaparte’s death, the city of Rueil-Malmaison, the Epicure Studio agency and the Fondation Napoléon are delighted to let you discover the history of Napoleon Bonaparte as you have never seen it in LEGO® bricks!

This fun and immersive event at the Atelier Grognard traces with panache the great moments of Napoleon Bonaparte’s life, accompanied by little-known historical anecdotes. About forty original LEGO® brick models are to be discovered in order to tell the story of the illustrious character’s life!

This exhibition is based on the fictitious story of a certain Roland “Flamboyant”, whose diary was found by a local family: this soldier in the Grande Armée followed Napoleon’s wanderings and adventures from his school days until his death.

More than ever, the LEGO® brick, more than a simple toy, has become a real means of contemporary artistic expression, popularizing the most difficult subjects and making our country’s heritage accessible to all types of public. Especially the youngest who contributed to this exhibition, by building objects in LEGO® bricks from the heritage of the First Empire, in the context of school workshops with local schools!

For this exhibition, the Fondation Napoléon lent more than 60 works. Among them, the helmet and cuirass of a Carabinieri officer (INV 77), the bust of General Bonaparte after Charles-Louis Corbet (INV 43), Josephine’s punch bowl (INV 567), the drawing of the Emperor on horseback by Horace Vernet (INV 782) and the sword of the Institute of Egypt (PAR 46).

This exhibition was part of the label “2021 Année Napoléon“.
