Conference: The Banque de France, a Granit Mass

To mark its 225th anniversary, the Banque de France and the Fondation Napoléon are organising a conference on Thursday 20 March 2025 on the theme of ‘The Banque de France: a mass of granite’. The aim of this event, which follows on from the ‘Napoleon III and the economy’ conference (proceedings published on 11 April 2024), is to put the founding of the Banque de France into perspective.
Historians and specialists on the Consulate and the Empire will discuss with the current directors of the Banque de France the continuity and evolution of this ‘mass of granite’. Xavier Mauduit (agrégé and PhD in history, producer for the France Culture programme ‘Le Cours de l’histoire’ and columnist for the Arte programme ‘28 minutes’) will moderate the day’s proceedings, which will be concluded by Professor Éric Anceau from the University of Lorraine.
The conference will be held in the Jacques Delors auditorium at the Banque de France (31, rue Croix-des-Petits-Champs, 75001 Paris). It will be broadcast on video and relayed on social networks, using the hashtag: #225AnsBDF.
The inscriptions for this event are now closed.
