It was with great sadness that the Fondation Napoléon learned of the death of historian  Bernard Quintin. He and his wife Danielle co-wrote a number of invaluable works on Napoleon’s military, most notably the Dictionnaire des capitaines de vaisseau de Napoléon (2003) [Dictionary of Napoleon’s Naval Captains (2003)], the Dictionnaire des chefs de brigade, colonels et capitaines de vaisseau de Bonaparte, Premier Consul (2012 éditions L’Harmattan) [Dictionary of the naval chefs de brigade, colonels and captains of Bonaparte, First Consul (2012, L’Harmattan)] , and the Dictionnaire des colonels de Napoléon (1993, SPM éditions; 2013, L’Harmattan) [Dictionary of Napoleon’s colonels (1993, SPM editions; 2013, L’Harmattan)].

These publications were the product of many hours of prosopographical research in the archives of the Service historique de la Défense, and Bernard and Danielle Quintin were awarded the Fondation Napoléon Jury Prize in 2007 in recognition of their work.

The Fondation Napoléon extends its sincere condolences to his wife, family, and loved ones.
